About us
Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga
A dynamic method of practicing traditional Hatha Yoga asanas, where movements are synchronized with breathing. Asanas are linked into progressive series through dynamic strength transitions. Traditionally, Ashtanga Vinyasa is taught and studied through individual mentoring of a teacher to each student and is called Mysore style.
History
This method of physical culture was introduced into Indian society in the early 20th century by Tirumalai Krishnamacharya. An outstanding figure in the Renaissance of the yoga tradition in India, who is rightfully considered one of the fathers of modern yoga. Later in the years 40s of the 20th century, the method was took its modern form by K. Pattabhi Jois a student of Tirumalai Krishnamacharya. K. Pattabhi Jois was the first to establish an Institute for the Study of this method in Mysore city, India. Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga quickly gained popularity among yoga practitioners all over the world and is the basis for modern power yoga trends in Western society.
Mysore style
Unlike other yoga classes where the students practice in unison, here everyone works at their own pace. Using self practice in a group setting, the Yoga teacher gives individual attention to each student according to their needs based on age, health condition, injury, flexibility, level of experience and etc. The Yoga teacher assists each student through physical adjustment and verbal instruction, ensuring a safe and sustainable practice. The room is quiet, with a focus on breathing and meditative flow
